How and when to stop Swaddling?
Stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of rolling over, typically between 2 to 6 months, though it can happen as early as 8 weeks. Rolling over while swaddled can restrict movement or breathing, posing a safety risk. Traditional muslin swaddles that require wrapping can come loose, increasing the risk of suffocation for mobile babies.

Transitional Pod FAQs
Regardless of the swaddling method you use, it’s essential to stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of rolling over independently. At this point, transitioning to 'arms-free' sleeping becomes crucial, as your baby’s arms should no longer be restricted. This guideline applies to all forms of swaddling. By this stage, your baby’s startle reflex is likely to have diminished. The Transitional Pod is an excellent solution to help your baby move from swaddling to 'arms-free' independent sleep with ease.
When a baby starts showing signs of rolling, it’s time to stop swaddling and transition them to 'arms-free' sleep. Our Transitional Pod offers the easiest way to make this shift, ensuring your baby transitions smoothly while maintaining their beloved sleep routine.
For best fit result please select size according to your baby’s weight, not their height or age.
Selecting the correct size for your baby's weight is crucial to prevent the Transitional Pod from shifting around your baby's face or compromising its ability to calm the startle reflex. For assistance, consult our Size Guide or contact our Customer Service team. Ensure your baby always sleeps in a safe sleep environment.
We recommend purchasing at least two Transitional Pod swaddles in the appropriate size. This way, you’ll always have one ready while the other is being washed. It’s also a good idea to consider a third as a backup for emergencies. Since Transitional Pods are used daily and washed frequently, having multiple on hand can help them last longer through repeated washes.
If your baby hasn’t shown signs of rolling yet, they can continue sleeping in the Sleeping Pod. However, once they begin attempting to roll, it’s essential to stop swaddling and transition them to arms-free sleep. Start by uncuffing one Arms Up wing while keeping the other cuffed for self-soothing. After a few nights of alternating wings and allowing your baby to adjust, uncuff both wings and begin bedtime with both arms free. Once your baby settles into this new routine, you can fully open the cuffs for complete arms-free sleep. While some babies adapt within a few nights, others may take a few weeks. For those needing extra support during this transition, the Transitional Pod with self-soothing cuffs provides a gentle and effective solution.
A TOG rating indicates how much warmth a garment provides for your baby. The higher the TOG number, the warmer the garment, making it ideal for colder winter months. Conversely, lower TOG ratings are designed to keep your baby cool during hot summer days.
